New Glasses......

So, I spent most of today dealing with getting glasses.

Time was, I had GREAT eyes. Then I started writing. And the more time I spent looking at a computer, the worse my eyes got. And I HATE going to doctors.

So my old glasses were five years old. Yep. But they worked great until two months ago. Then I was doing the head bob, lining up the lines on a page and squinting. Not a good look. So the dh and I headed out.

What a nightmare. I hate being tested. I'm always worried about doing badly. I want to do well on tests!! And the stupid peripheral vision test makes me insane! I can see the squiggly line, but I don't hit the stupid button in time. And then you've got to find frames that don't make you look like a big dork.

Probably would be easier to get Lasik surgery. But hello?? LASERS??? On my EYES?? I'll just risk looking like a dork.

Maureen, you could never look like a dork! Ironically I am going to the eye doctor today. Ugh. A new one too.

My husband keeps suggesting lasik for me. I am too chicken!

Right there with ya, Jen. Screw lasic....too many things could go wrong. ...yikes!

    Good luck, though!

There's no way you could look like a dork, Maureen.

I've gotten used to having glasses...so much so they're like a part of me now. (I definitely had to get over the dorkiness thing, though.)

But I'm seriously considering Lasik surgery because I'd love to wake up in the middle of the night and be able to see without fumbling for my glasses. Although the chicken inside me keeps saying, "Do you now? Do you really? Bock!"

Michele, you are NOWHERE near dorkville! LOL.....and the chicken in you is speaking to the chicken in me..I'm comfortable with that!

My kid sister Mia had lasik and she's the biggest chicken I know. She had very bad eyesight too. My mom just had it done and she's 78.
    As for myself....

    Oh look, I'm growing feathers..

Amy my love, those are VERY nice feathers!! Tres Chic! Your mom is one of the bravest people in the world, so I'm not feeling too bad about not stacking up to her. But MIA??

    sigh. bock bock bock

Good to know I've chosen my friends well here at the chicken ranch! Ooh. wait. Wasn't the Chicken Ranch something else?? Never mind.

Kate, i like the indoor glasses, but those sunglasses aren't gonna make it with me.........

OK, so I am the vain one who NEVER wears her glasses EXCEPT in dark movie theaters. But I DO have a totally rocking, completely gorgeous pair of VERY dark sunglasses by BCBG that I had made into prescription sunglasses and so I do wear them and convince myself I am cool and not a mom of four with a minivan.

That said, no matter HOW vain I am, I would never do Lasik. Just don't want anyone messin' with my eyes. My father is blind . . . and it terrifies me . . . the thought of not being able to see. I figure, I don't want to mess with it and take the chance that the day I have Lasik, the Lasik guy's coming in off a ten-martini bender because his wife left him, and he messes up the laser.

See what happens when a writer considers things?--overactive imagination.

I'll join the chicken brigade because there's no way I want to have Lasik. I have prescription sunglasses even if does make me look like a dork. Anytime you live in a place with sun 365 days a year you better be wearing sunglasses.
