Another Question, Another Chance To Win!
Yep! Still here. Still gathering comments. Still giving everyone who comments between now and Sunday a chance to win a signed copy of MORE THAN FIENDS
So...here's my next question. What kind of covers work for you? I mean, we usually have zero input on our covers, and we trust that marketing and the art department know exactly what they're doing.
But tastes change....so what does it for you? Cartoony? The Clinch? Land covers? (you know the ones, pretty house, trees, flowers)--Do you prefer people on the cover or would you rather see something like the FIEND cover?
Do bright colors draw you in? Do cover quotes make a difference??
Come on, tell me what you think!

What kind of covers work for me? I don't like the cartoony ones and it really bugs me when the people on the cover don't match any of the physical characteristics of the h/h. I'd rather have landscapes or a picture of a landmark that is in the book. I just like when the cover matches the book in some way.

I like different kinds of covers. I like covers with the hero and heroine of front. I also like them with magnificent castles and landscaped. I like som bright covers. The cover you have now on the book is a great cover. Goes with the title perfectly. The cover to me has to go with the story. That's just my opinion. I don't like covers that are cartoony or looks like they were slapped on there at the last minute.

I like a variety of covers too. A couple that matches the author's characters, land covers, etc. I am not to thrilled with cartoony covers. Bright colors do catch the eye. If an author I enjoy reading recommends the book, I am more likely to give the book a try if the author is new to me.

I love covers that work--that is they are indicitive of the story in some way. Don't give me a cover with a dark hero and a blonde heroine--and then give me the story with the blonde and the red head. ANNOYING! Of course I have already bought the book, but its still a distraction. I prefer not to have those when I am in the middle of a great book.
I like the non-covers alot. The ones with a porch and rocking chair..the ones with scenery or silhouettes are good too.
Have a great day!

Nichole...I so agree. I HATE when the people covers don't look like the characters! ON my second book, the cover heroine had blonde hair while the character had brown. I went through the whole book making the change!! sheesh.
Kimberly......I'm not a big fan of cartoon people either...but thanks for the compliment because I really like THIS cover!
Crystal....Glad to hear it!! Hopefully all of Katie MacAlister's readers will see her quote and buy my book! And hey, Allie's, too!
Husker Kim.....I like the non cover, too. =) I LOVE shots of castles or dreamy front porches on beachfront cottages.

I like covers that are bright and have things on them rather than people. I love your new cover because it is striking yet simple (as in uncluttered) - of course, as your friend, I can say your name should be much larger, but what are friends for? I like the red a lot.
I like some cartoony covers - itr just really depends. More and more I'm finding the clip-service covers annoying - nothing like 5 or 6 books out there with the exact cover image. Then again, better than a lot of the artistic renditions with odd proportions (I once had a woman holding a baby except that her neck was about 3 times as long as her infant).
Your new book is stunning!

This is one of the MANY reasons I love you, Rhonda!! Thanks! I'd like my name bigger, too! LOL
I'm with you on the weirdness of some covers....though your most handsome cover wins hands down...I once had a cover with a guy who only had the TOP half of his body. In bed with the heroine...how disappointed she must have been!
ANd thanks! I think it's gorgeous, too!

I'm late to this, but for me I like all different covers as well. Give me a hunky set of abs, or an entrancing set of eyes, or the shadowy images that you can't tell if they are real or not, or the landmarks, castles, fields, log cabins, etc. I just hate the animated covers. I hate the cartoony covers or the ones they try to make seem more women's fiction or general fiction, than romance. I do like the stepback covers, where you get the flower or something on the front, then open to another scene. My thing is let it match the book. Or match the title.
I love your cover Maureen, it's classy without being cartoony. ya know? I just want my cover to go with the book. Don't do a cover that has absolutly nothing to do with the book.
hugs,
Wendy

Hi Maureen:
I hate cartoony ones. But I also don't like photo-types because they never match. I think Ilike covers like my Spanish Disco one that more play up a theme than the people.

Wendy, thanks! I really like this cover too. I think NAL does a great job of it! And I'm with you. Don't give me a cover that has nothing to do with the book!
Erica...Hi! I love your Spanish Disco cover, too!!

Maureen, I too love the cover! For me, I really love the ones you too got for the Trilogies. (AND THEN CAME YOU, etc). I do love those outdoor scenes with the characters, but too in the background of things. I've seen alot of the same covers with close ups of the characters together with just shading of different colors that were beautiful, that I like more than seeing just a chest! I like what they did for your REILY books. That too made them look great together!
Maureen, my msgs on the blog here keep disappearing :( I'm Cathie. I wrote you a few times but my email changed in case thats why my messages disappeared. Its been a joy reading yours over the years! I haven't miss many and working on finding more of the series books! I have so many favorites, one being THIS TIME FOR KEEPS as yours under Kathleen Kane. AND THEN CAME YOU with your single books, oh and its endless with your SD books, but one that comes to mind right now is THE PART TIME WIFE. I enjoyed that mini series with you and other authors. So looking forward to your new one!

What do I want on the cover? SEX!
Sex and more sex, and maybe some blood, or spoiled food with maggots crawling all over...or maybe puppies...?a collection of little shoes...You know, something that makes you want to open the stupid book!...I like windmills...and llamas...and eggs. Please respond soon as they are coming for me.
