The Sugar Rush Begins......

This last weekend, the seasonal sugar marathon took off with a bang.

Went to my daughter's house to help Sarah make candy for giveaways at work! Okay, it wasn't on this grand a scale, but we did plenty.

Sarah found recipes in Martha Stewart's holiday magazine, and since I've actually made candy before, I was roped in to help. We melted, we poured, we snacked and mostly, we laughed. The hardest part was convincing Bristow, the Grand Dog that peppermint really wasn't in his best interests.

    Hi Maureen,

I am home sick and waiting for the NYquil Nightime to kick in and knock me out!

I made fudge last week and shamefully ate more than I gave out. I have lovely little glass vases for my co-workers that need to be "filled"..alas and alack..not before this Friday.

Sounds like you had fun and that is the best.

Oh, Sandy.....my sympathies. it so sucks to be sick at this time of year especially. Hope you feel better soon!

Oh, and on the candy making front, Jen Apodaca has the BEST peanut butter ball recipe...=)

All this baking sounds so fabulous, I'm jealous!

sandra d, I'm sorry to hear you're sick. I feel your pain. I've had this creeping crud for days now and can't seem to shake it, either. Bad timing, huh?

I'm hoping I'll feel better because I'm expecting another batch of fudge from the boss's mom later this week! It's the absolute best!

    Hey Maureen,

Mmmm, reminds me of my first job during my senior year of high school. I worked in a Belgian chocolate shop at SCP where we melted down the blocks of chocolate to make the truffles, turtles, caramels, ect. on site. Talk about a sugar rush...I was addicted to work. Lost a lot of weight after I left that job! LOL

Sounds like you, your daughter, and Bristow had a great time. :-)

And I can vouch for the peanut butter balls--The Best!!

Ladies..I am up to take a pill and than jump back into warm bed:-)It is cold!!!

Maureen...Dana called me yesterday to ask me for one of our closest friends "infamous" Peanut butter ball recipe..she now lives in Colorado..Dana had to call her.
She could have asked Jen for hers!

Kate..please go to doctor...same symptoms here..should have gone a week ago..now on Z-pak and feeling oh so much better.

Michele....I "intimately" remember that shop in South Coast Plaza..as do my hips and tummy...and..

My still all time pedestrian candy favorite though is See's!I just love it...all of it.I just shocked a relative of mine when I said I don't like Godiva chocolates.

Hope all of you have a wonderful Christmas and wish all of us good health!

    Kate, Get Better!!

Michele, I KNOW that store!! and what a fabulous job...sigh.

Sandy...I'm so glad you're feeling better! And hey, NOTHING pedestrian about Sees!! I'd rather have Sees over Godiva ANY day. Especially milk chocolate Bordeaux!
