Saturday heroes..........

Ahhh....Saturday heroes.

So, got demon troubles? Ghosts rattling chains in your attic or basement? Pesky witches making trouble in the neighborhood?

Have I got some heroes for you.

Meet Sam and Dean Winchester. (Otherwise known as Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles).

The Winchester brothers are demon hunters. They're out to save the world whether they want to or not. And sometimes, they sooo don't want to.

But that's the nature of hero too, isn't it? Doing what needs to be done even when you don't want to be the one to do it. Even when it could cost your own life or the life of someone you love.

So, if you love the paranormal, as I do! Or if you love great writing, lots of great dialogue and let's be honest, (looking at some trulyl great looking guys) turn to the CW and check out Supernatural.

And if you already watch Supernatural, what are you? A Dean girl? Or a Sam girl? Me, I like Dean. Gotta love a hard ass with a biting sense of humor!

Okay, which one's Dean? Because I don't watch the show. And why is that? What am I doing that's more important than watching these two cuties save the world every week?? Sigh. I really have my priorities out of whack!

    Happy Saturday anyway!! :-)

Oh, you poor sad Kate! Dean is on the right in that picture!! You simply MUST start watching this show.

Although, if the Ghost Whisperer scares you.....

I'm a Dean girl too! I simply adore him. Such a complicated and wonderful guy underneath the bravado and bravery! And Jensen Ackles brings him to life so wonderfully! One of the best characters on TV portrayed by one of the best actors on TV!

I love both of those adorable Winchester boys, but I'm declaring myself a Cas girl!

Definitely a Dean/Jensen girl. No doubt about it, the best character/actor on TV right now and this has been the best season of the show by far even though I have loved all the previous seasons too.

I love those Winchester boys, but my favorite is Sam. I love the fact that is at heart a "sensitive soul" who can kick some butt and is built like a tank.

    Fates 3...

EXACTLY! There are so many layers to Dean's character. And he can break my heart with those momentary glimpses of just how lonely and lost he is..... Jensen Ackles really is an amazing actor!

You know, you're right about Cas, too.

Though Dean still holds my heart, I can feel Cas's doubts at battle with his faith and he so wants to do the right thing. Didn't you love how he told Dean to get help from Chuck??

    Melllow.....

He's really awesome and they've had some GREAT storylines this year, too. And I love the Arc this year.

But gotta say, I'd like to see more stand alone episodes, too. I'm wondering if they're going to wrap up the Seals storyline this year or carry it over into season 5?

AND YAY THAT THEY GOT A SEASON 5!

  • At 1:40 PM, Anonymous Melllow said…

I enjoy the standalones too Maureen but I've appreciated the emotional continuity they've built into them these last couple of years.

I definitely think the seals story will wrap at the end of the season but I suspect the mytharc will go on with another bigger bad.

    And yay! for season 5!!!

  • At 4:30 PM, Blogger Maureen Child said…

Melllow, it's the emotional connection between the boys that just grabs me and doesn't let go.

It's been REALLY hard this season with the two of them pulling apart like they are!

And what is UP with Sam drinking demon blood?? EW

  • At 4:45 PM, Anonymous Melllow said…

Poor Sammy. He's been led astray. The demon blood sucking cannot be going anywhere good. Listen to your big brother ya idgit. LOL!

But yes the estrangement has been painful to watch but it's such great drama. I'm riveted to see where it's all leading.

Also judging by the preview clips for the next episode, Dean's gonna be ripping my heart out. Yet again. Oh Dean.

I am way too invested in the lives of these fictional characters.

Count me as another Dean fan. I'm dying to see how this season closes.

    Kripke loves his cliffhangers.

Melllow.....Right there with ya! I spend way too much time worrying about the Winchesters and how they'll get out of this! LOL

And I'm sorry...a new brother??? What's up with that???

  • At 6:16 PM, Blogger Maureen Child said…

Heather.....Ah, another Dean girl!! Woo Hoo!!

    And btw....Kripke's killing me!

    Hi Maureen,

A friend of mine sent me the link to here. I'm a huge Dean/Jensen fan. I just love how Jensen has made Dean so three-dimensional. I also love that you almost don't need any dialogue to know what Dean is thinking or feeling, you can just watch Jensen's facial expressions and body language.

I'm enjoying this season because I love that Dean has an active and direct part in the mytharc, and because I'm glad Kripke et al have brought in the "good" side to the supernatural (though, the angels are being very good right now *g*).

I do miss the standalones, when things were more "carefree" than they are now. I would love for Season 5, which is supposedly the last season, to go back to being more like Season 1 with its mix of standalones and mytharc episodes, but I don't see that happening.

I'm a total Dean girl. What Jensen did to make Dean few actors have a talent for. He created a multidimensional character from a one dimensional script.

I used to love the standalones only but this season, with Cas and the angels, and Dean part of the mytharc, it makes the central story so much more interesting. I love the dynamics between Dean and Cas.

    Ana, hi and welcome!

I really agree. Jensen is such a good actor, he just breaks my heart as Dean. When Sammy was killed during the demon's 'test', I cried and cried, watching Dean mourn his brother then vow to not let him stay gone.

And ooh, the angels are really something, aren't they? Can't make up mind about Zacariah yet either. Good? Or bad??

Why wouldn't he let Chuck warn the boys about what he saw?? WHY wouldn't he let Chuck tell US?? LOL

  • At 10:45 AM, Blogger Maureen Child said…

Karen, I think you're our only Sammy girl! =) Now that's completely understandable because hey, he's gorgeous! And funny, too. I love that in a man.

But Dean appeals to me more I think because of his vulnerabilities. He's way less sure of himself than Sam, though he does a great job of hiding it!

  • At 10:46 AM, Blogger Maureen Child said…

Carm, that's true, too. I love what's happening between Cas and Dean. In a way it's almost as if Kripke has switched the relationships around until Cas is now filling Sam's spot--

And I was totally surprised to find it was Uriel behind all the angel killings!

I am definitely a Dean girl. I do love Sam and I refer to thursdays as the day when the boys come on but Jensen Ackles is amazing as Dean. I love the relationship between the brothers and the whole theme of family. The car is awesome and the music.

  • At 7:10 PM, Blogger Maureen Child said…

    faithintheboys.......

Dean's coming out way ahead in my little poll!! LOL....

and that is a VERY cool car and oh my, the music.

Shall we dish on Dean with Eye of the Tiger????

  • At 5:47 AM, Anonymous Ana said…

The "Eye of the Tiger" video was great (or as I've seen it called "Thigh of the Tiger").

Jensen has such a great sense of humor (and pretty good rhythm - loved his shoulder roll).

I hope it'll be on the Season 4 DVDs. :-)

  • At 9:13 AM, Blogger Maureen Child said…

Ana, me too! As it is, I've still got it on tape and watch it WAY too often! LOL

    I absolutely love Dean.

Jensen Ackles succeeded in truly fleshing out a character that I have come to care for… far too much. Heh. Dean moves me like no one else does.

I’m enjoying the ride, though we are far from the brothers "saving people and hunting things" while looking for their father and re-discovering themselves. That show had more of an edge for me. But I appreciate the development in the brothers' relationship as I expect them to come together on a new, healthier basis. The re-building of the bond should be interesting.

    Alexandra.......another Dean girl!

I'm with you. The show's grown and changed, yet the boys retain the chemistry that brought us to the show in the first place!
