I'm with you, Maureen... Seems like History Day is coming at us faster and faster. It's frightening.

Interesting that British programming was longer in '55.

Thank you for saying that Michele!! I was afraid I was the only one noticing how fast the weeks are going! =)

And yeah, weird isn't it? Nowdays, we usually get 6 minutes of show with a zillion commercials!

Where did last week go? Having no electricity, phone or internet for a few days cuts into blogging!

Great history facts. Tonight, nothing to add. But I always look forward to History Mondays

The good thing is, we now have a remote control, so that we can fast forward through those 999 commercials.
1647-Massachusetts establishes the first public school system in America.
1913- The Los Angeles Aqueduct is completed, and water begins to flow.
1934-The gangsters Bonnie and Clyde are shot and killed by six Texas Rangers in northern Louisiana.
1974- People Magazine publishes its first issue.

Pat, right there with ya! Thank God for Fast Forward!!!

You had some really good ones! Once my grandma and grandpa were traveling the back roads in Louisiana and she reached over the back seat for her son--people on the side of the road thought she was Bonnie reaching for her Gat and jumped into a ditch! LOL

That little story about your grand parents left me with my mouth hanging open. Now THERE'S some interesting family history!!!

Hey Pat, yep, I always loved that story too. Apparently Bonnie had the habit of leaning over the back seat for her trusty weapon--even long before TV, people knew all about 'em....
