Plotting in Vegas

Plot group was great. Let me say that first. We were really clicking this time and plotted some fabulous books!! Including two for ME! So yay. Now all I have to do is transcribe my notes, the tapes of my sessions and write proposals. But that's another story.

Today, it's the downside of plotting in Vegas.....Yep. The picture over there tells the whole story. We plot two books in the morning, then break for lunch....that's 90 minutes for each book--sometimes longer if it's not working--. Then, after lunch, we split up for a couple of hours. Some of us go to our rooms to work--(making the rest of us look bad, Chris, not that I'm naming names!!)--and the rest of us wander the casino.

Hotel rooms in Vegas are cheap. Flights to Vegas are plentiful and also fairly cheap. Which is why we meet there, twice a year. But it's the 'break' times that'll kill you. Let it only be said that while we were fabulous in work sessions---the casino decided to make us pay in other ways.

Guess that's Karma though, right? Balance in the Universe? Great in plot group, crappy in the casino. And really, I'd rather have the great book!

Maureen: What do you play? I am a terrible gambler. A few years ago my husband gave me a $100 chip for my birthday. We took it to the closest Indian casino and I blew $48 in 12 minutes playing blackjack. It was so sad! The dealer was rooting for me (and helping me) but I still couldn't win. My husband realized I was miserable and asked me if I wanted to keep on playing. I said no. I wanted to buy some shoes with what was left of my winnings!

    Maureen,

    This made me laugh!!

We have a mutal friend that loves to gamble and I'll be damned if she usually wins! A lot!!She says it is relaxing...not to me ..grumble..I am a poor sport and my language gets very inventive as I lose..

Glad that you had a great time in Vegas and took time to enjoy yourself!

Ah, Christie......usually, you can find me at video poker. it's insidious!!! Plus, I sit there and tell myself, it's gonna change. It'll all turn around!! Idiot! LOL...I can't count fast enough to play BlackJack. Isn't that pitiful???

Sandy...hmm. Our mutual friend has always been lucky!! I try very hard not to grumble about that. But yes, my language gets ugly and I find myself making DEALS with a stupid machine! LOL

Well, just saw this post. Yes. Some of us are just terribly noble. Some of us have no other damn choice but to be noble as we have galleys due in some impossible short window of time which forces us to slave away in our rooms while others are out gambling and having fun.

Not that I'm bitter or anything. Mwahaha.
