I remember now........

Sometimes in the crush of deadlines and schedules and plot holes and character crunches, you can forget why you wanted to be a writer.

Then you go to an RWA meeting and you remember. At least, I do. Saturday, at my local chapter meeting, I spent a few hours with some fabulous women. (Yes, there are a few guys too, but mostly, it's Women Power).

We laughed and talked and compared notes on current projects, agent hunts, editor crises and publishing houses. We moaned about how hard writing can be and how amazing it is when it's clicking. And we talked BOOKS. Books we've read. Books we love. Books we're waiting to buy. Books that are no more than a promise from a favorite author.

And I remembered why I wanted to be a writer.

It's all about the books.

You should come with Dana sometime! Would love to meet you in person! My mom was with me on Saturday, so I didn't have much time to talk with everyone, but oh, I love RWA meetings!

It was a good meeting, and I met your granddaughter, Sandy! I think she had fun listening to the morning speaker (the fabulous Jennifer Apodaca) discuss, um, s-e-x!

Maureen's mom had fun with that discussion, too! LOL

Kate--She had a blast! She was the one that turned "me" on to the Mary Janice Davidson Vampire series last year!! Pretty sexy if you have read them:-)

She is almost 14 and just loves to read everything. She really enjoyed the discussion. A great place to listen and learn:-)

    Maureen,

    I love this post!

I love going to meetings. Not only for the love of books, but to be around other book lovers.

And I promise to nag Mom to come if you promise to bring your mom again so I can have more of a chance to chit-chat with her. She seems like such a doll.

Christine, I wish you would come too. Though I only met you once, you were so nice!

And Jen, I know you'll never believe me, but it really was a great speech. :)

Kate, Hi! It was good seeing you on Saturday. You always make me smile.

    :) d
