History Day...........

History Day is here again! On this day in 1956, a sixteen year old John Lennon of the band, the Quarrymen, met a fourteen year old Paul McCartney and invited him to join the band. (Just the beginning of greatness!)

And in other news....

1215, the Magna Carta was signed. (Okay, this is bigger news than John and Paul, but still........)

1752, Ben Franklin flew his legendary kite with a key on it into a thunderstorm!

1775, George Washington became our first Commander in Chief

1844, Charles Goodyear patented Vulcanized rubber....giving us tires. Thanks, Charles!

1909, Benjamin Shibe patented the cork centered baseball--(and got a stadium in Philly named after him!)

1976, Houston gets ten inches of rain (Whoa!)

1991, long dormant volcano, Mt. Pinatubo erupted with a vengeance in the Phillipines.

That's it for me. What did you guys find???

Yikes, my head is spinning from all of this interesting stuff!!
1567- Lord Darnley, the husband of Mary Queen of Scots, is blown up with gunpowder, probably on her orders. Later she marries the Earl of Bothwell, his likely murderer.
1952- The first Weber barbeque kettle is produced by founder George Stephen. Just about everyone I know (me included) has had one at some time in their life.

Didn't watch much of the OJ trial but saw snippets of it on and off and the glove thing was one of the snippets I saw. Can't write what I thought at the time.
