History Day.....




Ah, as you can see by the picture over there... in 1933, King Kong made its premiere! Let's hear it for the giant ape!

And in other news.....

1807, the U.S. Congress outlawed the importing of slaves to the United States

1836, Texas declared independence from Mexico.

1866, the Excelsior Needle Company of Wolcottville, Connecticut, began making sewing machine needles.

1917, Puerto Ricans were granted US citizenship

1949, An American B-50 Superfortress, the Lucky Lady II landed at Fort Worth Texas, completing the first non stop around the world flight

1965, the movie version og The Sound of Music premiered in New York

1974, US postage stamps jumped from 8 cents to 10 cents. (and just the beginning, folks!)
