We're Having a Heat Wave......

And no, I'm not singing about it, I'm WHINING. Now generally speaking I don't consider myself a big weiner dog.....however, I'm admitting it here on the world wide web...
I HATE BEING HOT!
Usually, in Southern California, we get really hot in August and miserable in September. Well, it's September 2nd and already, Mother Nature is screwing with us.
And for those of us WITHOUT air conditioning, these are trying times, my friends! I'd much rather be cold than hot. In cold weather, you can always put on another sweater or a blanket. But when it's hot, there's only so much you can take off and still avoid arrest--not to mention public humiliation.
Plus, it's really hard to write when you're busy pointing the fan in your direction and fighting off the dh when he tries to claim it!! So let's all say it together now...COME ON WINTER!!

I'm with you 100% on this one Maureen. It's been 106 to 108 here in Elk Grove (Sacramento County) and I have had enough. COME ON WINTER is right. Fall will make me happy. The heat needs to go because I am tired of hearing myself whine when I have to go out.

BTW, at Jill's house it's been twenty plus degrees cooler than where I live. I'm spending Saturday with her next week and looking forward to the cool weather.

I kept telling my step-sister that she could put more clothes on, I could take anymore off, every time she complained that the airconditioning was too cold. Hello you live in the basement it's bought to be cooler. She could always you know like block the vents.
Here in Southern Ontario it is pleasant(don't know temp cause haven't checked) but the night are getting really cool. I had to shut my window the other night because it was too cool and had to wear a sweater part of the morning.

I feel for you lady! I live in the mountains of Virginia, where it's supposed to be cooler, right? WRONG! We've been having a nasty heat wave for 2 months now and doesn't look to ease up anytime soon. The air conditioning has been running at the max, but makes little dent in the heat of mid-afternoon and the nice (yeah, right) weather man told us last night to continue to expect extreme heat. UGH! I sincerely hope that you get relief soon or we'll all be like the wicked witch and be screaming, "I'm melting!"

Gena.......lucky puppy, going into the Sierras (oh, and seeing Jill, too of course!) Say hi for me. I'm tired of hearing me whine and whimper, too! LOL...so very unattractive....but then, so is sweat!

CHRISTA!! I may have to come stay with you! I'll kick your step sister out and take over the basement! Bring on the cool!!

Oh, Trish! What's up with that? Mountains are SUPPOSED to be cooler!!! This is getting nasty. Plus, we've got humidity here now! We're not supposed to do humidity!!

I'm not at that place anymore but the apartment I'm at now has a pool. There are 7 apt. buildings here and we have a pool for all the buildings(actually 2. 1 indoor and 1 outdoor) My apartment faces a side that doesn't get direct sun so I stays a little cooler. If I get too hot I can always go upstairs to my friend's apartment they have two air conditioners.
I'm in the Niagara Pennisula, in the fruit belt so with the two lakes and the escarpment we get a cooler summer and a milder winter.

Maureen, I'm praying for cooler weather but nobody's listening!! LOL. I've got two fans pointed at me right now so that's helping a little, but what if I want to get up and move around? Maybe I can strap one to my head.......

Hope we all get some relief soon!!

    Maureen,
I'm looking forward to cooling off in the Sierras next week. I complain to Jill about my HOT weather and she has the nerve to complain about her 80 degree weather. I will tell her "HI" for you and we'll be thinking of you while we are on her deck discussing our favorite subject, books.
